Warning: Lancaster 74s
Lancaster Arms, whom I have recommended in the past, is having problems with their new Bulgarian AK-74s. Take warning if you are considering purchasing one. The builds were outsourced from what I overheard Chet say at a recent show.
Here are comments from a few who purchased them from Atlantic Arms... http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=491989 Sorry if I misled anyone. Lancaster has really dropped the ball on this one. If anyone is still interested in an AK-74, I do recommend the ones built by Arsenal of Las Vegas or the Saiga, since I own one of each. Regards, SC |
Re: Warning: Lancaster 74s
Thanks for the heads-up, the lancasters were tempting. Who wouldn't want a quality ak at 450-500 and save that extra 300 you would spend on an arsenal for extra ammo and mags. Stick with quality don't cheap out and buy a questionable build you may regret, the best AKs on the market are the sgl31, sgl21 imo. I'll bet those who missed out on the sgl21 holiday deal for 499 are kicking themselves now.

Re: Warning: Lancaster 74s
You can outfit a 5.45x39 Saiga back to it's regular pistol grip configuration for ~$100, at which point you have a better rifle than a lancaster, for about the same price. The Arsenals are really nice, but too pricey for me...
